Lime slaking is a process where quicklime (CaO) is converted to hydrated lime slurry (Ca(OH)₂) by mixing it with water. This exothermic process generates heat and steam. Hydrated lime is used in various applications, such as pH control and neutralization, industrial manufacturing processes in the pulp and paper industry, and the mining industry.

The ADM Lime Slaker is a robust mixing unit featuring a high-efficiency turbine agitator installed on top of the mixer tank. The tank and turbine-mixer design, with adjustable mixing efficiency, enable the production of high-quality slaked lime with a wide concentration range. In addition to lime slaking, the ADM can be used for pigment dispersing and coating color mixing

THE BEST POSSIBLE LIME SLAKING RESULT
In the ADM Slaker, quicklime powder is efficiently mixed with water using a turbine agitator. The appropriate tank design, good mixing efficiency, and sufficient retention time ensure the best possible lime slaking result. The ADM system allows the operator to select the desired lime concentration, which is achieved through the automatic and accurate measurement of water and lime powder. The dosing concentration is measured using the ADM Slaker load cell weighing system. Temperature, a crucial factor in slaking, is continuously monitored and can be used to fine-tune the process. The ADM slaking process can be configured as either a continuous or batch-type process, depending on customer needs.
After the initial slaking phase, the hydrated lime slurry is directed to a post-slaking unit, where the slaking process is completed, and heavier undispersed particles are removed. In the post-slaking phase, the slurry is gently mixed, and grit is removed from the bottom using an inclined screw. This phase, with integrated grit removal, ensures stable end product quality and minimizes wear on subsequent pumps and pipes.
